- I think of the voice as both a literal and a figurative element in an artist's expression.
- As a voice teacher, I place a strong emphasis on removing tension and athletic breathing - a well-rounded approach that combines a technical emphasis with style. Because of my training, I am, in many ways, uniquely positioned to address psychological blocks that prevent freedom in vocal production and performance and I stress a mindful and physical approach.
- I specialize in choir audition training, healthy choir singing and singing techniques.
- As a creativity coach, I offer sessions to help you discover and explore in depth, your own creative path - how to find meaning through creativity and deepen your relationship with that part of yourself. We work on goal setting, finding resilience and persistence, and dealing with creative blocks. You will be rewarded with an alive and engaged sense of renewal!
- Studio Amphion offers voice lessons in person and on Zoom or Skype. Creativity Coaching is offered in person and on Zoom or Skype.
- A safe, supportive, encouraging environment helps to coax the voice out of hiding and reduce all tension. Your approach to your creative projects will be explored in depth.
-
- Commitment is a non-negotiable element of the training. Students are required to commit for a period of time to ensure proper unfolding of the voice.
Singing is a skill requiring devotion. Studio Amphion focuses on discovering natural resonance based on body-centred training.
My main voice teachers were Jan Simons, Joanne Bentley (Montreal) , John Wood (London, Ontario) & Tom Schilling (Hamilton). But there were many other teachers in other fields who provided the love and support to grow.
